Thurlstone Brass Band, formed in 1854 as Millhouse Musical Society is a friendly band for players of all ages and abilities. Our band aims to perform publicly with a varied repertoire of traditional and contemporary music. Although unregistered, we have also competed with some success.

Important Notice about this May's Spa Sunday
Spa Sunday at Gunthwaite Spa and
The George Inn, Upper Denby
Every year on the first Sunday in May, Spa Sunday, people come from all over the area to celebrate the healing water of Gunthwaite Spa.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to continue our 70 year tradition of our full band playing music and providing refreshments at the nearby lay-by. The blessing at the actual well at 2pm will still take place and a few players from the band will be there to accompany the hymns.
The good news is that our full band will now be playing at The George Inn starting at 2:30pm and we’re looking forward to providing lots of musical entertainment for regulars and the walkers who will join us from the Spa!

We rehearse every Wednesday from 19:45 until about 21:30 in the Millhouse Green Institute on Manchester Road.
Throughout the year, we perform at a wide variety of events throughout the district. These include formal concerts in venues such as the Paramount, at bandstands such as Weston Park and open air concerts including the Penistone Agricultural Show.
Thurlstone Brass Band were formed in 1854 and were originally known as the Millhouse Musical Society.
